So, as you probably already know, I get bored doing the same thing over and over again, so I branch out to different hobbies or different techniques. This time I trying loom knitting. It's super easy, just loose. I got the Knifty Knitter at a thrift store and on all four round looms, the pegs are just too far apart for my taste. They make great fall or spring hats but I can't imagine making a nice, tight, warm winter hat. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though. Here's some random pics from my loom adventure :
This hat was made with UNspun recycled cotton. The stitches are perfect, way more perfect than UNspun can be knit up on regular needles, so that's a plus for the good ol knifty knitter.
Now, the yarn for I used for this hat was REspun recycled cotton, but the twist had not been set. I actually like how it turned out, how it kind of has a spiral action to it. Coolio if you ask me :)

You can make a tight warm winter hat with a bigger loom :) The smaller red loom stretches the yarn too much. You can also try doubling up on the yarn to make it thicker :D

Lilizzyykittyymom beat me to it. Doubling up the yarn or even using a bulky weight yarn works very well. And going up a loom size. Something made on the loom is a lot smaller in circumference than the loom it is made on.
Also, doing the flat knit stitch instead of the e-wrap knit stitch will tighten it up. http://isela.typepad.com/looming_crafts/loom-knitting.html She has excellent tutorials on the different stitches and techniques.
Ooooo, Groovy! I'm going to try it out with thicker yarn and go a loom size up. Thanks to both of you for setting me straight!
If you are set on the e-stitch and worsted weight yarn, definetly double it up. But then you can also do a 1 over 2 stitch. You bacically wrap the loom 3 times and lift one set of loops over 2. Then wrap again and lift one over 2, repeat till desired length. I agree though that loom is to small for the cuties head.
The knitted item WILL stretch to the width of the loom but you don't want it to stretch quite that much. The slack is what makes things look nice. :)
