This dress would also look super cute with a long sleeve shirt and some tights for the winter.
I wish I had a little girl to make this cute little dress for. I love it! Very cute and I love how you use recycled yarn. That's great and so ambitious of you!
ReplyDeletehappy knitting :)
That is just so cute. You are very talented.
ReplyDeletelove the pattern! would love to make this for my 14 month old little girl. could you help me figure how to adjust your pattern for it. thanks
ReplyDeleteOnce you have joined for your razor back on the Sugar Plum Sun Dress, how many inches is a couple or inches? I took that to mean 2 inches, but from the looks of the picture it is more than that. Also, I am looking for a shrug or a bolero to go with this dress. Do you have any patterns for a size 5 in the worsted weight cotton, or links to free patterns for that? Your help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to knit my granddaughter a birthday present using your sun dress pattern and some kind of shrug to slip on over it for the late afternoon/evenings.
ReplyDeleteHi the.knitter
ReplyDeleteJust do 2ish inches, as the cotton will stretch. max, 2.5 inches.
I've never made a shrug, but it's on my list of things to knit.
I hope to see a pic of the sundress for your granddaughter!
Love the dress! I am going to do a knit-a-long with some friends... I am wondering what length circular neeldes did you use?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Hi Ash. I used 16 in for the 7's and longer for the 11's, probably 24 in. How fun in your kal. Are you all doing this dress?
ReplyDeleteSoulful Hues...
ReplyDeleteYES! We are doing this dress! I bought some Lion's Brand Cotton Ease yesterday. I am excited about it.
Thanks again!
Ash
Check out my Ravelry and you will see a picture of the finished sun dress. I found a pattern for the shrug, now all I have to do is knit it up and she will have a really cute set.
ReplyDeleteI finished the bottom of the sun dress with a picot edge. It looks really cute, I think!
Hello! This dress is sooooo adorable! I've been searching for a pattern to make for my daughter who will be 6 in July! Although, I am unsure how to increase the pattern to fit her. Do you have any recommendations? This is a fabulous dress!!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Sandy :)
I just made my little girl one!!! Thanks so much for the pattern, I did resize it for her though being that she is little and just now wearing a 2T...
ReplyDeleteThe changes I made were, co 74 sts (size 8 needles) knit in 2X2 rib for 2.5” then changed to size 11 needles and knit till I was almost out of yarn and then seed st the last 3 rows and bo…for the straps I did them 6 sts wide instead of 8 and only did 29 rows instead of 39 and then the back once they were joined together I only knit 1.5” instead of 2”…& I think with those mods it fits her pretty well. Pics on my blog.
Super easy pattern, only took 2 days to knit!!!
Thanks so much for this pattern. So many times I see cute things I want to knit but the patterns are too complicated. Knitting does not have to be that hard! This looks like a simple pattern and very cute.
ReplyDeleteis dress is perfect for my daughter. It just so happens that I found a worsted weight yarn today by Sheifer(sp?) Yarns in Miss Priss and colorway Piggy. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
ReplyDeleteAny chance someone could share their gauge on the dress so that others can try to tweak the pattern for bigger kids?? :) The dress looks lovely. My daughter (who's 10 now) has been bugging me to knit her a dress for a couple of years now and I think she'd really enjoy this one!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for sharing this adorable pattern. I will make it for my granddaughter.
